“La Costa de la Luz” The Coast of Light
Blue seas, savory sherry, exotic Moorish culture and the incredible sunsets together make up the magic that is the Coast of Andalucía endearingly called the “Coast of Light”. Bike along rolling terrain past the fields of wheat, warm beaches, oak and pine tree forest, grazing bulls and lots and lots of sunflowers in the Spring! The busy port of Cadiz will offer a curious contrast with the dream like white villages of Vejer de la Frontera. Ever present is the Moorish influence as we near the south to Tarifa, where Spain and Africa meet. La Costa de la Luz, where light is so apparent, all who see it promise to return!
We greet you in Sevilla with a manzanilla in hand and take the opportunity for a brief orientation meeting and bike fitting. This afternoon we visit the Cathedral and the Jewish Quarter of Santa Cruz. After our visits we shuttle to our destination where you may relax at the pool until it is time to dine.
We start our day with a bike through the natural park and then shuttle past virgin sand dunes, marshland, brush and pines. We complete our journey with a boat ride to a fishing village for sunset and tapas.
Our bike ride today takes us through the Spanish countryside until we reach Jerez de la Frontera where we attend a performance of the Royal horses at the Real Escuela de Arte Ecuestre.
Then we are on our way to the bay of Cadiz colonized by the Phoenicians more than 3,000 years ago. We can’t think of a better place to watch the sunset during your trip to the Coast of Andalucía.
A morning ride on gentle hills through white villages, and fruit orchards. At our destination we can shop for handmade baskets made by local artisans and later enjoy a typical flamenco guitar performance in a tiny village of Andalucía.
We start the day on a coastal route until we reach the beautiful Parque Natural del Acantilado; where pine forests reach for the sea. A stop at an 1,800 year old ruin of a Roman City by the sea and perhaps a dip at the beach. We continue our ride through the Mediterranean forests which offer views of Gibraltar. It’s uphill for a bit to see the town built inside a 9th century castle.
We bike through the largest Mediterranean forest in Europe along country roads with incredible views of Gibraltar and the African Coast. We reach the exciting city of Malaga today where the city lights will call you into the great night life for dancing, tapas and drinks at our favorite chiringuitos.
Our morning is filled with activities as we tour the city of Malaga and visit the Picasso Museum. The afternoon is yours to explore the great shops on calle Larios and we meet this evening for our farewell dinner to reminisce about our ride along the Costa de la Luz!
